About

It’s been over two years since our last in-person Fractal Asia conference. We are thrilled to organize this conference again— bigger and better than before!

The event will bring together over 200 members of the rationalist community to connect with each other, and to explore the best ways to improve the world. The conference takes place in Jakarta, Indonesia. We invite everyone in Asia-Pacific to join us (and from further abroad too)! If the conference is canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 situation, you will get a full refund on your ticket.

Fractal Conference is organized by a group of volunteers. You can get in contact with us here!

COVID-19 policy

Summary: We require attendees to be doubly vaccinated, and encourage folks to get a booster shot if they can. Additionally, attendees will be asked, but not required, to take a rapid test before coming to the event. Mask-wearing will be required for indoor settings for persons who are 6 years old and above, but optional in outdoor settings. Surgical masks and Antigen Rapid Test (ART) kits will be available on-site if you need them.

Visas

Please refer to the Singapore government’s Entry Requirements page to determine whether you need to apply for a visa.

Attendees from any of these countries will require a visa. Please note that this list includes:

  • India
  • Iran
  • Nigeria

Please indicate in your application if you will require a visa. If you are accepted, we can provide a V39A form with the information you will need from the organisers (your “local contact”). You will still need to write your nationality, passport number, and where you’re travelling from into the V39A form.

We can also provide a more general letter of invitation to any accepted attendees who request it. Please contact singapore@eaglobalx.org if you would like this supplementary letter.

Conference venue

The main conference will take place in a central location, at 81 Victoria St, Singapore 188065. Nearest MRT stations are Bras Basah (Yellow line), City Hall (Green & Red lines), and Bencoolen (Blue line).

Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who can help us with the event during the weekend. We offer a wide variety of opportunities and flexible time commitment. You get to be part of an awesome team making the event run smoothly and having a positive impact on the attendee experience.

Send us your details via this form if you’d like to help.

Taking an effective altruism approach

There are so many causes that we can choose to work on. Taking a step back to think about your focus areas can lead you to discover areas you had not considered. These are cause areas that affect a lot of individuals (large in scale), lack resources (neglected) but can be potentially impactful (solvable) if you choose to focus on them.

Making a difference through your career

Most of us would spend around 80,000 hours of our life at work. Have you thought about how you can use your career to help solve the world’s most pressing problems? Learn about what you can potentially do to help present and future generations.

Giving better and giving more

Most of us who are living in Singapore have the ability to give. Our community consists of many who pledge to donate more and to organisations that have been found to be highly effective in their interventions, such as saving lives. You might be able to create a lot more impact through your giving than you realise.
